7 people are dead and 21 still missing after a tour boat was hit by a cruise ship and sank in Budapest, Hungary on the Danube River. Get the latest details in our LIVE COVERAGE.

The tour boat, the “Hableany” (i.e. “Mermaid”), which has a capacity of 45 people, was struck at 9:05pm by the much larger Viking Sigyn, a 95-room river cruise ship. The Hableany quickly turned on its side and sank. The captain of the Viking Sigyn has now been detained. The Halbeany was carrying 33 South Koreans and 2 Hungarian operators. 7 passengers from the Halbeany have been recovered alive, 7 have been found dead, and 21 people are still missing.   5. Hello everybody, I’m reporting from Hungary. First, a better way to asess the difference in size of the 2 ships is their weight: the small one that sank was 40 tonnes and the big ship weighed 1.000 tonnes. Also, the weather conditions were really bad, it had been pouring rain for days, which also led to an increase in water levels. This made the rescue efforts much more complicated. And it is correct, the small ship capsized and sank in just 7 seconds. All 14 people found were on the upper deck, the 21 still missing were most probably trapped inside. May they rest in peace! 🙏

  6. Wow, who is this expert . I just got back last week from a Viking cruise on the Rhine, the best cruise I ever had and there have been many. We saw a huge amount of Asian tourist in Europe, Chinese and others. We had a lot of smaller ships cut our ship off and these ships are like barges they do not stop on a dime.
